The helipad

Getting there

Olbia Airport is the gateway to the Costa Smeralda, in north-eastern Sardinia. Porto Cervo is about 30 minutes away by road, Porto Rotondo closer still, and the bay of Cala di Volpe lies along the same stretch of coast. From Nice, the flight takes about 1 h 45 to 2 h — the longest link on the network.

When to go

The Costa Smeralda runs from May to September; much of its hotels and restaurants close for the rest of the year. The absolute peak is July and August, when the yachts fill Porto Cervo — the period when booking earliest matters most.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Are there customs formalities between Nice and Olbia?

France and Italy are both in the European Union and the Schengen area, so there is no systematic border control. Valid photo ID is required at boarding; non-EU nationals should carry their passport.

How do you reach Porto Cervo from Olbia Airport?

By road, in about 30 minutes. A car transfer is arranged with the quote; a helicopter rotation to the Costa Smeralda can be studied on request, subject to local authorisations.

When is the best time for the Costa Smeralda?

May to September. July and August concentrate the yachts and the life of Porto Cervo — and the demand for flights; June and September offer the same sea with easier slots.
