The helipad
Getting there
Gstaad-Saanen airfield lies on the Saanenland valley floor, at around 1,000 metres. It handles both aeroplanes and helicopters and serves Gstaad, the surrounding villages and the Glacier 3000 area, a few minutes by car from the chalets and hotels.
When to go
Two genuine seasons: winter from December to March, around skiing and resort life, then a loyal summer clientele, attached to the Saanenland as much as to the snow.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Can the helicopter connect with a scheduled flight into Geneva?
Yes. Departure is planned around your arrival time at Geneva, luggage included. If your flight runs late, the crew shifts the slot within the weather window and Saanen airfield's operating hours.
Can we take ski equipment?
Yes, in covers, in the hold. State the number of pairs at booking; on arrival, a car takes over for the short transfer to your chalet or hotel in Gstaad.
What if the weather closes the flight window?
As a valley-floor airfield, Saanen often stays open when high-altitude platforms close. If the flight cannot depart, it is brought forward, postponed or replaced by a chauffeured road transfer.
