The helipad

Getting there

Val Thorens closes the Belleville valley, in the commune of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, at around 2,300 metres — the highest ski resort in Europe. Its helipad is listed in the French civil aviation authority's register of heliports. You land at the foot of a fully pedestrian resort, on the 3 Vallées ski area, without the hairpin climb up from Moûtiers.

When to go

A long season, from late November to early May, carried by the altitude and by access to the 3 Vallées. The tightest weeks are the French and British school holidays, when the Belleville valley road saturates on Saturdays: that is when the flight genuinely changes the day.
